im looking for a weekend cabin i can rent that is a real cabin. meaning it is secluded and allows a person to get away. not too far from the chicago land area, im willing to take an hour and a half drive. if anyone can make any recommendations it will greatly be appreciated, i have less than 2 weeks to plan my get away so time is of the essence. Ive been looking for cabins but i get fake ones that arent secluded at all and are like joint together with other cabins. that isnt a real cabin to me... thanx for the helpAre there any secluded cabin rentals in illinois (nothing more than an hour and half outside chicago)?
Your not going to find that sort of seclusion in Illinois!! See the link below for cabin rentals in the state parks. I recommend White Pines or Starved Rock. Are there any secluded cabin rentals in illinois (nothing more than an hour and half outside chicago)?

Private home/cabin rentals Lebanon (Middle East) for a weekend in Feb/March?

I am an American (never been outside the Western Hemisphere, traveling alone) who is visiting a friend who lives in Lebanon this February/March, and will be celebrating my birthday during that time. While I am on a bit of a budget, one thing that I would like to splurge on is a weekend with my friends there in a house or cabin in an interesting area (ski, coastal, historical, etc). I haven't really been able to find anything online, and figure that the people here might be able to save me some time and tell me if such weekend rentals exist in Lebanon, how much to expect to pay (Fri-Sun or Mon), and where to find listings for them. Thanks all!Private home/cabin rentals Lebanon (Middle East) for a weekend in Feb/March?
There's a very nice place in Faraya (ski area, like 1 hr away from Beirut) called Hotel Badr... It's not so much of a hotel more like chalet.... Very cozy! Prices vary according to how big the chalet is. They're number is 00961.3.749999

Hope this helps! ;)Private home/cabin rentals Lebanon (Middle East) for a weekend in Feb/March?

Gatlinburg TN cabin rentals...any that don't charge ';extras';?

I've started the hunt for a cabin rental this fall in the Gatlinburg Area, to enjoy the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Close to downtown but semi-secluded (quiet) would be a real plus.

I've been amazed to find the amount of extra fees charged: reservation fee, cleanup fee, hot-tub cleanup fee, %26amp;tc.

Are there any cabin rental services that don't charge ';extras';? I don't mind paying the in-season rate, starting Oct 1, for the nightly or weekly stay. But, imo, ';extras'; are just a schneaky way to boost profits. (If an extra $50-100 is called for, why not just add it to the nightly rate?)

Also, if anyone has had experience with a nice, clean, decent, honest cabin-rental service, I'd love to know their name. Hate to sound paranoid, but we've never been to the Smoky Mountains, and the ';extras'; are a real turn-off.

For the record, we went to the Grand Canyon last fall, had a blast, and weren't ';extra'd'; to death. Thanks for any input.Gatlinburg TN cabin rentals...any that don't charge ';extras';?
http://www.vrbo.com/697Gatlinburg TN cabin rentals...any that don't charge ';extras';?
Try Sunset Cottages, they have some of the ';extra fees'; but their rates were better than most when I booked with them this summer. I also did not have any problems with them. I had to check in at their office and when you leave you just call them no need to go back by the office.
I don't have much information there however the fee's that you stated are ';one time per stay'; fee's. Meaning that they are not a daily fee, they are based on a level of work that has to be performed one time per guests.. So If you stay for a week you would only pay the hot tub cleaning fee one time; if you stayed for 1 night you would only pay the hot tub cleaning fee one time.

If they added that to the nightly rate then short stays would be less profitable than long term stays because the cabin management people would have to perform more cleanings.
Hi,

Understand your frustration completely!

Do know that almost all cabin rental companies in the Gatlinburg %26amp; Smoky Mountain area are actually just managing the rental of privately owned individual properties--in a way some of these fees are part of their ';management'; fee. I realize this still doesn't solve the problem though.

Only thing I can suggest is just to ask for a discount and the omission of the fees--it is a competitive area with Thousands of cabins for rent. Most are similar in appointments (i.e. they're all going to have hot tubs, game rooms, etc.). The biggest problem is indeed that this is peak season...many rental companies feel they can get away with every charge possible.

Wish there was some way I could help you more. Do know that the Smoky Mountain area is absolutely incredible this time of year!

Luxury Cabin Rentals very similar to Gatlinburg, TN?

Three couples ( no kids) are looking for a luxury cabin rental for thanksgiving. We had a gateway earlier in the year in Gatlinburg, TN and loved every minute of it, but looking for something different for thanksgiving.

We do not want somewhere isolated with no shopping options like north ga, but something vibrant and fun like gatlinburg. Someone suggested Aspen, CO but I havent seen any cabins there....?

Somewhere near a lake would be nice, also, we are willing to consider a luxury beach house too....well, I am...but everyone else would prefer a cabin on the mountains especially if it has a hot tub or jacuzzi...!!

Thanks for any input.Luxury Cabin Rentals very similar to Gatlinburg, TN?
Have you considered Branson, Missouri? It is very similar to Gatlinburg and you will find similar activities, only more of them. There are a couple of lakes in the area, and Thanksgiving will be a good time to visit because the Christmas season will be beginning. Here is a list of vacation rentals available in the area:

I know that there is also a lot of shopping in the area, including a regular mall and outlet malls, as well as antique and craft stores. For more ideas and information, you can check out the complete Branson listing:

I've been using Owner Direct Vacation Rentals for years now, and they have a bunch of vacation rentals in Gatlinburg http://www.ownerdirect.com/accommodation鈥?/a> so I'd have a look at their site.

You can be sure of great customer service with them... they're the best I've found, and I've tried others and always come back to Owner Direct. Their people can put you right in touch with the owner of the home you're thinking of renting, so you'll know exactly what to expect upon arrival.

Have a look around their site. Here's a page with vacation rentals in Colorado http://www.ownerdirect.com/lodging/usa/c鈥?/a> since you mentioned Aspen.

There are so many places you could go! Just look around their site for the type of place you want, and away you go!

Have a great time on your trip, wherever you decide to go!
Try http://www.VRBO.com (Vacation Rental By Owners). Type in your location and see what's available. I've used this site many times and have never been disappointed. Trip Advisor is also good, but my experience with the reviews has been mixed. Many of the reviewers down grade a place for extremely trivial reasons. One reviewer gave a bad review simply because she didn't like the shampoo!
We use tripadvisor.com to find info like this. If you pick the area, someone on TA from the forum for a place near there will know exactly what you want to know. Real reviews from real people.

Was just looking for one myself, the only thing I could find that was really nice is in Indiana. Go to www.cabinsandcandlelight.com. Seems really clean and secluded.
Yep Solage resort in Calistoga California. It is a new resort with full spa treatments, several pools, a restaurant, free bicycles, and it's in the wine country of Napa Valley. It overlooks the vineyards and Palisades mountains and close to the town of Calistoga. Just a short walk or bike ride to town. The town is famous for it's hot springs, mineral water, and mud baths.

  • Best Cabin Rentals 2-3 hrs from DC Metro Area?

We are a group of 10 looking to rent a cabin in a wilderness type setting for rent during the Thanksgiving weekend (for about 3 nights) with a bunch of things to do outdoors. I know it would be cold, but the group insists that we find things to do outside the cabin in the areas surrounding (hiking, water sports, wine tasting !?, apple picking - anything to keep 10 people busy, having fun, and not complaining!). The Cabin itself should have heating, private large hot - tub /Jacuzzi, game room and other amenities they usually come with.

I am overwhelmed by search results on google/bing and am looking for some direction.

Which is the best place? WV? Shenandoah valley? MD?

If you have a more specific recommendation (like a link to some company that rents cabins in your place of choice), that would even better.

I am lost trying to narrow down a place and any of you experienced in renting good cabins can help. We are willing to drive out about 2-3 hours from Fairfax, VA, and prefer something in the $300/night range or about $1000 for 3 nights for the whole group of 10. Please help!Best Cabin Rentals 2-3 hrs from DC Metro Area?
This is going to be an offbeat answer, but I might recommend Harrington Harbour South Marina, near the Chesapeake Bay. They have a small motel there and in the off season, rates are pretty cheap. Some rooms are offered with hot tubs.

As for things to do, they have a small beach there, where you could do some beach combing. The only thing is, it's going to be cold with the breeze coming off the bay.

Another thing to do is simply drive a bit south to Calvert Cliffs State park. There you can do some hiking and looking around. People often find the fossilized remains of prehistoric sea creaturs like sharks teeth and so forth.

Harrington Harbour South has a bar and resturant where you and friends can hangout. The atmosphere is really laid back, with quite a few locals showing-up to sing on kareoke nights. The food is first rate, five star, while the service is pretty poor (they just forget that you're there). If you get tired of their bar/resturant, you can travel a few miles north to Harrington Harbour North, where the bar is a bit more festive. Or, go south to North Beach and Chesapeake Beach Maryland where you can find some smaller resturants. Again, this being the off season, you might find some great deals.

I did a vineyard tour around there for my bachelorette party and it was a blast! They pick you up in a van or limo at your place, and then drive you to multiple vineyards, provide snacks and water to go with all that wine, and then drop you home at the end of the day!

    Cabin rental in Florida?

My family is looking to travel in state for a week long vacation. We've done Disney numerous times and were thinking of trying something different. At first, being big Disney fanatics, my mother suggested Disney's cabin rentals at Fort Wilderness. But before we go off to yet another Disney trip, I thought I would see if anyone knows of any unique cabins elsewhere in the state. Nothing too rustic- my mother likes her comfort and isn't down for tenting anywhere. But considering there is a wide range of ages in my family from 50's down to 7 months, we would like a place with lots of different activities. Any suggestions? Has anyone ever been to Seaside Florida? If so, how was it?Cabin rental in Florida?
St. George Island, Florida is a magnificent destination spot accessible via a four-mile (6 km) long bridge from the Eastpoint, Florida mainland. Since it sounds like you are traveling with a big group, a vacation rental is most suitable for your lodging. You can browse listings at St. George Island Vacation Properties (www.sgivp.com). Pictures of beach lodgings including interiors are shown with locations indicating whether they are beach front, beach view, bay view or bay front. Other essential details such as occupant capacity, rental rates, and number of rooms/bathrooms are included in the website as well. St. George Island has lots of different activities for kids as well as grown-ups. Besides swimming, there鈥檚 a state park for wildlife viewing and hiking, and other activities such as fishing, water sports, shopping, and local restaurant seafood buffets. Try going to St. George Island for an opportunity to bond with your family in a different setting as an alternative to a Disney trip.

Poll on Cabin Rentals and Vacation Rentals

Are vacation home rentals and cabin rentals the way to go when you're traveling with a family? They seem to be a very popular alternative to hotels.

How many people have actually rented a cabin or vacation home for their vacation? And did you rent by owner or through a company? Do you recommend it?

Thanks!Poll on Cabin Rentals and Vacation Rentals
We rented a cabin (vacation home) for the 1st time about 3 years ago. It was alot cheaper than the other response you got (I guess it just depends on where you are going and how much the rentals are there).

We went to Blue Ridge GA and loved it so much, we bought our own cabin and started renting it out as well. To me, it's a great deal because vacation homes offer alot of privacy (a whole house) and space vs a small hotel room. We are a family of 5 (3 kids) so when we go to hotels, we need to get 2 adjoining rooms. We can rent a upscale vacation home or cabin for less than the price of 2 hotel rooms so even for a family, it's well worth it.

Vacation homes today have everything from game rooms to private hot tub and fireplaces on screen porch, multiply bedrooms and bath, fully equipped kitchens, gas grills, swimming pools and more............so it's worth a little extra for the added ammenities and space.

For us, it's definately the way to go!Poll on Cabin Rentals and Vacation Rentals
well, the only way we can do it is because we are 4 or 5 single people splitting the cost. I think it's pretty expensive to do as a family. We're renting a house on Tybee Island near Savannah GA and it's about $2400 for the week. If ti were just me and a husband with some kids, I could never afford it. But because it is me, my 3 adult daughters and my ex-husband (their dad whom I divorced 15 years ago but am still friends with-only friends!) as well as our 3 grandkids, we split the cost 5 ways and it's less than $500 apiece for each of us for the week- much more manageable! We go through a company, because they guarantee cleanliness and lots of other things. When we go other places, we get hotel rooms- it just depends. Check out all options!

As a former resident of Beaufort County, let me just tell you up front that Beaufort is remarkably congested... so if you're desperate for real seclusion...then you're going to be disappointed. That said, there are some nice cabins and/or condos on the Sea Islands just past Beaufort. You might try finding something along Hwy 21 anywhere from Harbor Island to Fripp Island. However, Beaufort is about to celebrate its annual Water Festival...which means that most rentals are probably already booked up.

I have to tell you: I was born and raised in Beaufort...but I think you're going to have a really stressful vacation if you stay there. I think you'd have a better time if you spent your vacation in Charleston...and better yet, Savannah, GA...which is only 45 minutes to the south of Beaufort. Are there any cabin rentals secluded 2 b/r in the Beaufort Charleston area in the woods?

Renting a house or a cabin would be a great idea, and there are a lot of choices for rentals in the PA area. It's best to do your homework and use online research to find available places to stay that fit within your budget.

    Well,

Woodstock is a tiny little town at the foot of the Catskill mountains, near Saugerties.

Woodstock has a big musical and art background, much like it still has when the hippies thought it would be a cool place to have a festival of music and art there.

Woodstock is also the main center of The Band, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and other artists.

Theres some shops and restaurants in Woodstock.

If you want to, you can buy a ticket to see Levon Helm(also a Member of the Band)'s Midnight Ramble, a music recording session, he has alot of various guests all the time to visit his place

    White mountains cabin rentals?

    Hello,

I am trying to find a cabin to rent in the White Mountains, NH for a family vacation (there would be 4-5 people). The time period would be for late May; the key criteria would be access to good mountain hiking trails, ease of access (easy to get to), and cleanliness and comfort. However, I have no idea where to go to find out about rentals, who are the good %26amp; reputable rental sources, etc. Can anyone help me with this search (offer recommendations, point me to sources, etc)? Any and all guidance appreciated.

Thanks for your help!White mountains cabin rentals?

Can travel agents help out with cabin rentals?

I'm looking into using a travel agent to help out with a group vacation to Colorado or some other place to go snowboarding. We planned on staying in the same place so we are looking for a place that can squeeze at least 8 people. We don't have an official head count yet, but we are used to cramming into space.. anyways... We planned on using a cabin or possibly a lodge, whichever is cheapest so that it can be closest to the slopes.. do travel agents look at cabins? We are looking for the best available rate... Around $250/person not including car rental.. for about 5 days. What do you suggest??Can travel agents help out with cabin rentals?
Check out this website- VRBO.com (vacation rentals by private owners) It will show you map of USA and you click where you want to go and then it will show you websites from private owners that rent condos, cabins, cottages, houses, etc. They are privately owned so it will be cheaper than going through travel agent. I use this website all the time and have had good luck and good prices. I rented a condo at South carolina and called the resort and the price from private owner was half the price of what the resort was asking for. It is safe! Call a travel agent also and then compare your prices. GOOD LUCK!!!Can travel agents help out with cabin rentals?

Do a search online. You'll find a number of rental agencies that list cabins for rent. What you pay will depend not only on who you rent from but when and for how long you want to stay, and what amenities you want in your cabin (hot tub, fireplace, pool table, etc).

  • Im looking for cabin rentals in Arizona, around Sedona and the Grand CAnyon. Can anybody help me out?

Im travelling to AZ to see the Grand CAnyon, Sedona, Prescott and Flagstaff. I`ll be there from Dec 20th till Dec 28th. Im trying to locate an inexpensive cabin, something more on a rustic side but still warm and solid. I`ve been searching online but most of the places are either too fancy or expensive. Please let me know if you`ve travelled there and can recommend a lodging.Im looking for cabin rentals in Arizona, around Sedona and the Grand CAnyon. Can anybody help me out?
There are lots of cabins in the area but I know of none that are inexpensive at any time of the year, and you are talking about over the Xmas season which means if you have not already booked doubtful you will find a place at any price. I'd say look at motels/hotels in the various area when you plan to be in those cities, the basic motels are as low as $27/night (maybe more over Xmas). Sedona is an hour drive from Flagstaff, Grand Canyon is 1.5-2 hours from Flagstaff, and Prescott is another 1.5-2 hours from Sedona. So it is probably better not to base yourself in one location anyway unless you what to spend most of your trip in a car.Im looking for cabin rentals in Arizona, around Sedona and the Grand CAnyon. Can anybody help me out?
I have been to Sedona many times and find the bed and breakfasts to be just as nice as a cabin experience. There are many in the area and they all offer different levels of rooms. Some are free standing, like at L'Auberge, they have cabins by the lake off of their resort and some are big houses converted into an inn. Most have their own balconies, fireplaces and jetted tubs. I think that this is definitely a much more romantic way to go.
Skywalk is a new attraction at the Grand Canyon. It's a glass bridge that goes out partway into the canyon. Since it only goes partway, it's shaped like a horseshoe. An Indian tribe built it.

    http://www.destinationgrandcanyon.com/sk鈥?/a>

They also have a lodge that has an Indian theme for $80 a night in the summer/ busy season. Winter???

Using directory search at Yahoo (Web, Shopping, News, DIRECTORY) brings up a lot of matches without the BS. Try keywords like Sedona Arizona cabin or Grand Canyon lodging
Sedona used to be cool...try Bend Oregon or Kailua beach Hawaii

This is a great place to stay. Affordable, cutesy/woodsy interiors, restaurant on property that has good breakfast and close to all the winter activities up at the SnowBowl (skiing, tubing, etc). I've stayed at these cabins twice and have been very comfortable (both for myself and my wallet!). Hope you have a good time in AZ's cold country.

By the way, these are close to Flagstaff but within easy commuting distance of Sedona.

Help! immediate 10pts. Where is the best place to see the night sky INSIDE the US (LF honeymoon cabin rental)?

My fiance' and I are getting married next month.. problem is.. I STILL haven't decided on our honeymoon spot!

I know we want to camp or rent a cabin out in the wilderness somewhere, but I have absolutley no idea where. I've been on countless cabin rental sites from everywhere from tennessee to colorado, they all LOOK isolated and nice, but upon inspection they are actually very close to nearby towns or other cabins. The ones that were actually very isolated were scary.. like something out of ';the hills have eyes';. All run down, and creepy.

    I have 2 questions:

#1 -- Where is the best place to view the night sky within the US (excluding Mexico and far east states such as Maine). We were thinking Minnesota, Tennessee, Arizona, Utah, Idaho ect.

and #2 -- Has anyone stayed at, or knows of a really good, really isolated cabin? Please include link or phone #.

Thanks so much everyone! I will give 10pts to the best answer immediatly :)Help! immediate 10pts. Where is the best place to see the night sky INSIDE the US (LF honeymoon cabin rental)?
Butler, TN has some rental cabins which are isolated. However, at this time of year (summer) there is haze - if you really want skies so clear you can reach up and grab a handful of stars, then visit Butler in January!

I know of one cabin which is next to a creek on 140 acres which back up to the Cherokee National Forest with a section of the Appalachian Trail on top. Check out the website: www.creeksidechalet.net. It is so isolated you could run around naked and only the deer and turkey would know you are home.

You can even arrange a wedding there, or on Watauga Lake nearby!

Butler is a small town which was flooded by the TVA back in the 40's. Friendly people, lots of outdoor and music activities, but not a lot of night life except in Johnson City about 45 minutes away.Help! immediate 10pts. Where is the best place to see the night sky INSIDE the US (LF honeymoon cabin rental)?
I don't know how much $$ you are willing to spend but this place will definitely fit your wants:

    http://www.vrbo.com/90848

I have stayed there and the night sky is absolutely unbelievable! It is far enough away from cities to be remote, yet close enough to get there in a reasonable amount of time. You can fly into Albuquerque, rent a car and be there in 2-3 hours, depending on how many times you stop to look at the gorgeous scenery along the way.

If this is too much $$ I would recommend finding a realtor in the Jemez Springs area and have them look for you. Jemez

Springs is a perfect place for a honeymoon. I know - I spent mine there!!

Should I worry about webcam(s) in my cabin rental?

I just rented a cabin for a week, and was wondering how the absentee owner kept from worrying about guests, cleanup crews, thieves, floods, fire, and anything else that could go wrong at his property.

It finally occurred to me that the place could be wired; after all, Wi-Fi is one of its listed features.

So, should I worry about being spied on? Do other people worry about this; am I being overly paranoid? What steps could I take to assure my privacy? Are there any anti-bug measures I could take? I guess what I'm asking is...is there an inexpensive device I could use to ';sweep'; the cabin?

If you've had any experience with monitoring devices, where should I look for one? Also, how paranoid should I be about this? grrr...

http://www.alarm.com/about-us/press_rele鈥?/a>Should I worry about webcam(s) in my cabin rental?
I think you are overly concerned. If you are that paranoid, you can just unplug the internet connection from the router or turn off the modem.

How can we grow our cabin rental business during this market slowdown with the capital markets so tight?

My family and I own and operate a successful cabin and vacation rental business in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and our business has been growing even during the recession. Our location offers our guests many things to do at reasonable prices and despite these tough economic times, families are still taking vacations and they really appreciate the affordability we can offer.

Since land and cabin prices have dropped by as much as 20% in our market, now is the time for me to take advantage of the real estate downturn and expand and grow my rental business which is actually growing in this market.

The problem we keep encountering is that with the credit and capital markets so tight, traditional banks will not even consider lending to us, even banks we have had relationships with for almost 10 years

We have excellent credit, have never missed a single mortgage payment, have a lot of equity in the other properties we own, nine years of year-over-year increased rental income, and growing demand in our market. Even with all these positives, traditional banks are still unwilling to lend money for investment property.

What other opportunities and sources of funds are available to someone in our situation so that we can take advantage of the lower real estate prices and grow our cabin rental business? Thank you for any help and guidance you can offer. How can we grow our cabin rental business during this market slowdown with the capital markets so tight?
Have you considered putting together a private LLC? By creating an LLC lenders will look at different income to debt ratios than they would if you were trying to get a personal loan for the purchase.

The only drawback is that because this is a corporate loan, it will require 20% down. But, because it is a corporation, it can be easier to bring in other investors that might have the necessary down payment (for a % of the profit, of course).

There's also short term lenders out there set up specifically for people in your situation, that will loan the necessary down payment in a house-flipping situation, but it will cost more in upfront costs. You'd have to talk to a mortgage broker about that.

Also, don't know if you've seen it, but there's some more good ideas at A Touch of Business -- which is a free online resource for small business owners like yourself. Here's the link: http://www.atouchofbusiness.com/popular/businessresources.html

  • Does anybody have any good cabin rental suggestions for NC, SC, TN?

My fiance %26amp; I want to rent a cabin in the mountains for our honeymoon. We found one that we thought looked perfect, but all of the Trip Advisor reviews are awful! Renting a cabin is so stressful, because you really don't know what you're getting until you get there. Please speak from personal experience. We are hoping for TN, but would also stay in NC or even SC. Our main priority is privacy, also the scenery. We would like it to be on or very near a mountain, so we can go hiking. Streams, etc would be perfect as well =) Please say as much as you can about the cabin like if it has a game room, jacuzzi, how clean it was (also, very important!) thanks!!Does anybody have any good cabin rental suggestions for NC, SC, TN?
I can't help you personally with cabins in those states but I do own a luxury cabin in the North GA Mountains of Blue Ridge (zip code is 30513 if you wanted to mapquest the area) if you're interested. It's actually only about 15 minutes from the TN/NC border (near white water rafting on the Ocoee River). There's loads of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, a day spa and even an old fashioned Drive-In Movie Theater playing all the latest movies!

I'd say 1/2 of my bookings are from just 1 couple looking for a Romantic Getaway or Honeymoon (even though its a 3 bdrm, 3 bath, 3 fireplaces and 3 levels, game room, year round mountain views, upscale log furniture %26amp; decor, screen porch with hot tub %26amp; fireplace).

If you really want to stay in NC, SC or TN, I can give you some suggestions to help make sure the cabin you choose is what it appears to be!

Don't hesitate to ask questions to the homeowner or mgmt company.

    Ask for lots of photos

Ask the age of the cabin and when it was last updated.

Ask how many other cabins are in the area (some cabins are in subdivision with cabin upon cabin while others are spaced apart giving alot more privacy.

Look for a cabin with an outside fireplace near the hot tub (preferrably on a screen porch) - very romantic for a honeymoon!

Inquire on the access roads (some cabins have easy access while others you'll need 4 wheel drive).

Here are a few sites with cabin rentals from all over the United States. I advertise my cabin on these and find them to be very user friendly:

Are there any cabin rentals in the Houston area?

It would be used as a weekend getaway. I'm not looking for a B%26amp;B type of thing. Are there any cabin rentals in the Houston area?
we have been to a place called chain o lakes up near cleveland thy have cabinsAre there any cabin rentals in the Houston area?
i dont think they have cabins in houston or the area
Some condos around Lake Conroe, and some beach houses in Galveston. However, ';cabins'; aren't the style of vacation rentals in the Houston area. We're not in the mountains where you would think ';cabin'; if that's what you want.
I don't think there are in Houston, but plenty of them in Crystal Beach, TX

Does anyone know of any cabin rentals in western pa?

I have been searching the web for rental cabins. my husban and i , and 3 other couples would like to get away for a weekend, but the only cabins we can find are on state parks, and they dont permit alcahol. we would like a place where we can relax and have a few drinks! any info will be greatly appriciated.Does anyone know of any cabin rentals in western pa?

Gatlinburg, Tennessee cabin rental for an 18-year-old?

I'm looking to rent a cabin in Gatlinburg this April for a few days over spring break with friends. (We're all seniors in high school and 18). The problem is, I keep running across places that only allow people 21 years or older to rent one. Could anyone link me to places that allow 18-year-olds to rent? Is it even possible or am I wasting my time?

It's kind of stupid if you ask me...we're very well capable of handling a cabin. And anyone who ruins something should just be charged. We're legal adults. I don't understand what the big deal is.

But anyways, please help if possible! Thanks!Gatlinburg, Tennessee cabin rental for an 18-year-old?
You are probably wasting your time as more and more hotels, motels, etc are not renting to those under 21 and sometimes even 25.

Remember the old adage that one rotten apple spoils it for the whole bunch and I am sure they have encountered more than their share of problems and destruction after renting to those under 21 so while you are perfectly capable of renting without a problem they would rather not take that chance.

You might offer to leave a high deposit, $300+, and see if that helps.Gatlinburg, Tennessee cabin rental for an 18-year-old?
Since you are under 21, your best bet is to contact condo / cabin owners directly to see if they will rent to you. It may help to offer a large deposit upfront. Very few hotels or motels will rent to you if you are under 21.

Rather than give you a specific property name and location, I would suggest that you do some research on the available houses/condos, the prices and the locations. I have used justvr.com in the past and it was quite helpful for narrowing down my choices and booking a few nights stay.
    Jess...

If you owned a cabin, would you rent to 18-year-olds? Over spring break?

    Honeymoon Cabin Rental?

I need some help trying to find a nice honeymoon cabin rental. Here is my concerns. We are an interracial couple and I do not want to go somewhere where they have confederate flags and stares that follow you everywhere. Now don't get me wrong, we get stares from everywhere but I want to go somewhere where we can just relax and enjoy our honeymoon. The reason I bring this up is because I have actually looked on some websites for cabin rentals in Tennessee and noticed in the background confederate flags, even at wedding sites. Any inputs or ideas? Thanks for you help in advance.Honeymoon Cabin Rental?
We are an interracial couple also. There are some nice places in RI, CT, and NH. They are all liberal states really and don't really care. I love MA in the fall! It's really pretty!Honeymoon Cabin Rental?
You may want to look into a more liberal location. If you go some place up north, you won't find any confederate flags and people will not give you those looks. Look into a place that is considered more liberal and they will be more open and inviting to you. Try Vermont or any New England state for that matter or maybe Pennsylvania.

Cabin rental contract broken by website?

I rented a cabin in Big Bear Lake for 2 days during Christmas, signed the contract and paid for it. A few days later, the website calls me and tells me my reservation is canceled because the owner of the cabin wants to use it themself. No where in the contract does it state that the owner has the right to do such a thing, nor does it state anywhere that they have the right to cancel my reservation at any time.

I've called the website multiple times and they are simply of no help. They've recommended other cabins to me, but none of them have the same amenities/location as the one I had already booked. The only ones that are similar are much more expensive, and they aren't willing to rent those to me for the same price as the one I originally booked.

What can I do at this point? Do I have the right to sue them if necessary? I obviously don't want to take it that far because the cost of taking them to court simply isn't worth it, but I also don't want to let them get away with this.

Any advice?Cabin rental contract broken by website?
The website is merely an agent of the cabin owner. You can certainly sue if you want to sue, but you won't get anywhere. The owner of the cabin has changed his mind, and the website is stuck in the middle.

Simply forget about this situation, accept your refund, and look for other accommodations. Your life isn't going to come to an abrupt halt because you missed out on this particular cabin.Cabin rental contract broken by website?
I doubt you will get anywhere. The owner has a right to their property.

Do you have a contract signed by the owner? Websites can not sign contracts, what is there is not legally binding. The only thing that is binding is the contract signed by both you and the cabin owner.
First, you would need to demonstrate that the person or entity you ';contracted'; with had the authority to act on behalf of the cabin owner, or else held themselves out as otherwise having the authority to make a contract for leasing the cabin.

Next, you would be required to demonstrate you actually had a contract. Note: Simply responding to a web ad does NOT create a contract. There needs to be a definite offer to lease the cabin, and an affirmative acceptance of that offer.

Then, presuming you can show all that to the satisfaction of a judge, you can legally recover the difference in the contracted rental rate, and the rent you actually had to pay for a substitute cabin. (I have a feeling that it's not going to be more than $100 or so.) Plus your small-claims court fees.

Bottom line: You have the burden of proof, and your potential recovery is somewhat minimal. It's not worth it.

a web site did not call you; a person did.

or.....did the owner sign it in the first place?

IF he did not, you have no potency. Real estate deals of any sort

can be done by voice or email, but they hold little

    legal power.

I need to see a copy of the agreement.

I suggest you can call them again.

  • Can anyone recommend a good family resort in the Midwest? Ideally something with cabin rentals on a lake.?

My family and I (wife, 3 kids- ages 7, 5, and 3) are planning our Summer vacation and we are looking for family resorts in the Midwest (we are in Chicago) where we can spend a week. We would like a place that offers plenty of kids activities and a lake with water sports. Nice to haves would be a American Plan, lake side cabin rentals, and motor boat rentals.

    Thanks in advance,

TimCan anyone recommend a good family resort in the Midwest? Ideally something with cabin rentals on a lake.?
Torch Lake is BEAUTIFUL!!! You should also look into Empire and Leelanau County. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park is located here. Beautiful scenery, vineyards, camping, cabins, hiking, ... I could go on and on! I grew up in the area and have since moved away. If I could go back to one location it would be Leelanau County. The drive from Chicago can be very scenic as well. Follow the coastline and you'll be treated to a mix of lighthouses, artsy small towns, and you could even stop in Mt. Pleasant for a visit to Michigan's Adventure (an amusement/water park). Once you near Benzie County, the largest city nearby will be Traverse City. T.C. is located between Torch Lake and Leelanau Co.

I spent almost 30 years touring Michigan. If you prefer Wisconsin, Check out The Dells.

Ever gone KOA Kabin camping? You bring your own blankets, sheets, pillows, and towels and you get a bundle of savings. There is a great KOA near Naples and Marco Island. http://www.koa.com/where/fl/09109/locala鈥?/a> Get a Lodge or Kottage with kitchen and private bath for the adults and an across the street Kabin (sleeps up to 6, use toilets and showers at the conveniently located shower house). From here you can tour the Everglades, spend at least 2 days ocean kayaking from Isle of Capri, rent bicycles on Sanibel or Captiva. On your way up or down the west coast, enjoy a day at Busch Gardens, a quiet and surprisingly affordable park, a ';whole different world'; compared to that of Disney. Enjoy a full meal with table service overlooking the wildlife park with a live piansit providing soft background music for about what you'd pay to eat at one of Mickey's snack bars. If you want ';the full monty'; then load up car and drive it aboard the Naples-Key West ferry. Drive north across the famous Seven Mile Bridge, take scenic Card Sound Road into Maimi ';the back way.'; Spend a day at Monkey Jungle or cruising Deco Drive in South Beach.Cabin Rental in Florida?
If you're looking for something different, and you're not sure what it is, the best plan is to look into Owner Direct Vacation Rentals site for vacation rentals in Florida. They've got nearly 800 vacation rentals in Florida alone, though the vast majority are in the disney world area...

You still have loads of vacation rentals in West Central Florida http://www.ownerdirect.com/accommodation鈥?/a> which is about half way up the Gulf Coast. Or even more vacation rentals in South West Florida http://www.ownerdirect.com/accommodation鈥?/a>

I personally prefer the Gulf Coast, as my family used to go to Sanibel Island many years ago, and it's a lovely spot.

I bet after looking around a bit on their site, you'll find just the right spot!

The prices are dependant on the amenities, age of the cabin, age of the furnishings, rooms, etc. Our cabin at www.thistlebritches.com is a pet friendly luxury cabin with 2 bedrooms, great mountain view, secluded, and convenient to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. However, our rates avg $190/n to $245/n. You can check out vrbo.com, homeaway.com for listings by owner for a mixture of rates and quality.

My family would like to rent a cabin in the winter so we can see snow. I have a 6 year old and a 1 year old. Roughing it must be to a minimum.Where are the best cabin rentals in the Texas Panhandle?
What do you want - a cabin in a cornfield? There are no mountains in the Texas panhandle!! You might get to see a windy blizzard but nothing like a cool snowy cabin scene.

You should think about going next door to New Mexico or Colorado. Both have excellent places to rent cabins and see the snow and it's not too much further. Let me know if you want info on Colorado or New Mexico.

Where are the best cabin rentals in the Texas Panhandle?
I've never been to the Panhandle in Texas but here are a few sites with cabin rentals, cottage rentals, vacation homes %26amp; condos from all over the United States. I advertise my cabin rental on these sites and find them to be very user friendly!

If there are cabins in the area you are looking for, you should be able to find some listed here:

Can someone recommend a site for cabin rentals in lake tahoe that is by the owner?

I need a cabin in South Lake Tahoe, and all I can find via google/yahoo are the sites with realtors and what not. I want a site that contact information is given by the owner, and also I don't want to have to get charged by the site for stupid fees. Can someone recommend a site for cabin rentals in lake tahoe that is by the owner?
It's best to do your homework and use online research to find available rental properties. There are a lot of choices for rentals in the Lake Tahoe area.

Rather than give you a specific property name and location, I would suggest that you do some research on the available houses/condos, the prices and the locations. I have used justvr.com in the past and it was quite helpful for narrowing down my choices and booking the rental house. Can someone recommend a site for cabin rentals in lake tahoe that is by the owner?
Like others stated, I would use on of the many By Owner sites like www.vrbo.com or www.rentalo.com.

    With that said, is there any reason why you want a ';by owner?';

Can someone suggest a good site for finding cabin rentals in Illinois and Michigan?

I went to yahoo and google and searched ';cabin rentals (state)'; and all I keep getting is very messy sites that don't really get me the information I want. I just want to see a site that lists several, or even just their own, cabin rentals. Instead I keep getting sites that rent vacation homes and very few cabins. Can someone suggest a good site for finding cabin rentals in Illinois and Michigan?
Every state has a Department of Natural Resources site, or DNR. Do a search for Illinois or Michigan DNR sites. They will list all the camping, state parks and cabins available in the state parks. Also go to KOA's website ( www.koa.com I think), they also offer cabins along with camping.
