Your not going to find that sort of seclusion in Illinois!! See the link below for cabin rentals in the state parks. I recommend White Pines or Starved Rock. Are there any secluded cabin rentals in illinois (nothing more than an hour and half outside chicago)?

Private home/cabin rentals Lebanon (Middle East) for a weekend in Feb/March?

I am an American (never been outside the Western Hemisphere, traveling alone) who is visiting a friend who lives in Lebanon this February/March, and will be celebrating my birthday during that time. While I am on a bit of a budget, one thing that I would like to splurge on is a weekend with my friends there in a house or cabin in an interesting area (ski, coastal, historical, etc). I haven't really been able to find anything online, and figure that the people here might be able to save me some time and tell me if such weekend rentals exist in Lebanon, how much to expect to pay (Fri-Sun or Mon), and where to find listings for them. Thanks all!Private home/cabin rentals Lebanon (Middle East) for a weekend in Feb/March?
There's a very nice place in Faraya (ski area, like 1 hr away from Beirut) called Hotel Badr... It's not so much of a hotel more like chalet.... Very cozy! Prices vary according to how big the chalet is. They're number is 00961.3.749999

Hope this helps! ;)Private home/cabin rentals Lebanon (Middle East) for a weekend in Feb/March?

Gatlinburg TN cabin rentals...any that don't charge ';extras';?

I've started the hunt for a cabin rental this fall in the Gatlinburg Area, to enjoy the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Close to downtown but semi-secluded (quiet) would be a real plus.

I've been amazed to find the amount of extra fees charged: reservation fee, cleanup fee, hot-tub cleanup fee, %26amp;tc.

Are there any cabin rental services that don't charge ';extras';? I don't mind paying the in-season rate, starting Oct 1, for the nightly or weekly stay. But, imo, ';extras'; are just a schneaky way to boost profits. (If an extra $50-100 is called for, why not just add it to the nightly rate?)

Also, if anyone has had experience with a nice, clean, decent, honest cabin-rental service, I'd love to know their name. Hate to sound paranoid, but we've never been to the Smoky Mountains, and the ';extras'; are a real turn-off.

For the record, we went to the Grand Canyon last fall, had a blast, and weren't ';extra'd'; to death. Thanks for any input.Gatlinburg TN cabin rentals...any that don't charge ';extras';?

Try Sunset Cottages, they have some of the ';extra fees'; but their rates were better than most when I booked with them this summer. I also did not have any problems with them. I had to check in at their office and when you leave you just call them no need to go back by the office.
I don't have much information there however the fee's that you stated are ';one time per stay'; fee's. Meaning that they are not a daily fee, they are based on a level of work that has to be performed one time per guests.. So If you stay for a week you would only pay the hot tub cleaning fee one time; if you stayed for 1 night you would only pay the hot tub cleaning fee one time.

If they added that to the nightly rate then short stays would be less profitable than long term stays because the cabin management people would have to perform more cleanings.
Hi,

Understand your frustration completely!

Do know that almost all cabin rental companies in the Gatlinburg %26amp; Smoky Mountain area are actually just managing the rental of privately owned individual properties--in a way some of these fees are part of their ';management'; fee. I realize this still doesn't solve the problem though.

Only thing I can suggest is just to ask for a discount and the omission of the fees--it is a competitive area with Thousands of cabins for rent. Most are similar in appointments (i.e. they're all going to have hot tubs, game rooms, etc.). The biggest problem is indeed that this is peak season...many rental companies feel they can get away with every charge possible.

Wish there was some way I could help you more. Do know that the Smoky Mountain area is absolutely incredible this time of year!

Luxury Cabin Rentals very similar to Gatlinburg, TN?

Three couples ( no kids) are looking for a luxury cabin rental for thanksgiving. We had a gateway earlier in the year in Gatlinburg, TN and loved every minute of it, but looking for something different for thanksgiving.

We do not want somewhere isolated with no shopping options like north ga, but something vibrant and fun like gatlinburg. Someone suggested Aspen, CO but I havent seen any cabins there....?

Somewhere near a lake would be nice, also, we are willing to consider a luxury beach house too....well, I am...but everyone else would prefer a cabin on the mountains especially if it has a hot tub or jacuzzi...!!

Thanks for any input.Luxury Cabin Rentals very similar to Gatlinburg, TN?
Have you considered Branson, Missouri? It is very similar to Gatlinburg and you will find similar activities, only more of them. There are a couple of lakes in the area, and Thanksgiving will be a good time to visit because the Christmas season will be beginning. Here is a list of vacation rentals available in the area:

I know that there is also a lot of shopping in the area, including a regular mall and outlet malls, as well as antique and craft stores. For more ideas and information, you can check out the complete Branson listing:

I've been using Owner Direct Vacation Rentals for years now, and they have a bunch of vacation rentals in Gatlinburg http://www.ownerdirect.com/accommodation鈥?/a> so I'd have a look at their site.

You can be sure of great customer service with them... they're the best I've found, and I've tried others and always come back to Owner Direct. Their people can put you right in touch with the owner of the home you're thinking of renting, so you'll know exactly what to expect upon arrival.

Have a look around their site. Here's a page with vacation rentals in Colorado http://www.ownerdirect.com/lodging/usa/c鈥?/a> since you mentioned Aspen.

There are so many places you could go! Just look around their site for the type of place you want, and away you go!

Have a great time on your trip, wherever you decide to go!
Try http://www.VRBO.com (Vacation Rental By Owners). Type in your location and see what's available. I've used this site many times and have never been disappointed. Trip Advisor is also good, but my experience with the reviews has been mixed. Many of the reviewers down grade a place for extremely trivial reasons. One reviewer gave a bad review simply because she didn't like the shampoo!
We use tripadvisor.com to find info like this. If you pick the area, someone on TA from the forum for a place near there will know exactly what you want to know. Real reviews from real people.

Was just looking for one myself, the only thing I could find that was really nice is in Indiana. Go to www.cabinsandcandlelight.com. Seems really clean and secluded.
Yep Solage resort in Calistoga California. It is a new resort with full spa treatments, several pools, a restaurant, free bicycles, and it's in the wine country of Napa Valley. It overlooks the vineyards and Palisades mountains and close to the town of Calistoga. Just a short walk or bike ride to town. The town is famous for it's hot springs, mineral water, and mud baths.

  • Best Cabin Rentals 2-3 hrs from DC Metro Area?

We are a group of 10 looking to rent a cabin in a wilderness type setting for rent during the Thanksgiving weekend (for about 3 nights) with a bunch of things to do outdoors. I know it would be cold, but the group insists that we find things to do outside the cabin in the areas surrounding (hiking, water sports, wine tasting !?, apple picking - anything to keep 10 people busy, having fun, and not complaining!). The Cabin itself should have heating, private large hot - tub /Jacuzzi, game room and other amenities they usually come with.

I am overwhelmed by search results on google/bing and am looking for some direction.

Which is the best place? WV? Shenandoah valley? MD?

If you have a more specific recommendation (like a link to some company that rents cabins in your place of choice), that would even better.

I am lost trying to narrow down a place and any of you experienced in renting good cabins can help. We are willing to drive out about 2-3 hours from Fairfax, VA, and prefer something in the $300/night range or about $1000 for 3 nights for the whole group of 10. Please help!Best Cabin Rentals 2-3 hrs from DC Metro Area?
This is going to be an offbeat answer, but I might recommend Harrington Harbour South Marina, near the Chesapeake Bay. They have a small motel there and in the off season, rates are pretty cheap. Some rooms are offered with hot tubs.

As for things to do, they have a small beach there, where you could do some beach combing. The only thing is, it's going to be cold with the breeze coming off the bay.

Another thing to do is simply drive a bit south to Calvert Cliffs State park. There you can do some hiking and looking around. People often find the fossilized remains of prehistoric sea creaturs like sharks teeth and so forth.

Harrington Harbour South has a bar and resturant where you and friends can hangout. The atmosphere is really laid back, with quite a few locals showing-up to sing on kareoke nights. The food is first rate, five star, while the service is pretty poor (they just forget that you're there). If you get tired of their bar/resturant, you can travel a few miles north to Harrington Harbour North, where the bar is a bit more festive. Or, go south to North Beach and Chesapeake Beach Maryland where you can find some smaller resturants. Again, this being the off season, you might find some great deals.
